COFFEE tour 12 days

01. Arrival in Addis Ababa. Meet your vehicle/s and drive to Jimma, the Kafa coffee region (from where the name of the coffee derives). Visit Aba Jifar palace and its museum. Meals and ON hotel

02. Drive to Bonga, and visit coffee and tea plantations. Organic (wild) coffee plantation, walk in the plantation and also into the forest (with also a nice waterfalls), join & enjoy a traditional coffee ceremony, see honey production and a tea plantation. Back then for overnight in Jima. Lunch box; dinner & ON hotel

03. Drive to Chida and Sodo through very nice views. View on the way Wolayta people. Then reach late afternoon Arbaminch (in Amharic meaning 40 springs). Lunch box on the way; dinner & ON Emerald Resort Arbaminch. Emerald Resort is a beautiful Resort with a spectacular view over the Rift Valley lakes of Chamo and Abaya which are divided by a mountain called in Amharic “Yezghier dildi” which means “Bridge of Heaven” and the Netch Sar National park, in Amharic meaning “white grass”

04. Morning drive to Chencha mountain to visit the Dorze people, with their unique culture, houses and traditions, cultivation of sorghum, production of the traditional bread (the Kotcho, which is made from the false banana tree) & more. Afternoon make a boat trip on Chamo lake, to visit crocodiles, hippos and more. Or optional afternoon enjoy the facilities at the Emerald Resort Arbaminch & have a traditional coffee preparation lesson and training from our professional personnel in Arbaminch. 05. Drive to Yirgalem, another very famous region for coffee. Visit the coffee and fruit plantations and have relaxing walks. Lunch box on the way; dinner & ON hotel in Yirgalem

06. Walks in the coffee plantation. Then drive to Awasa Rift Valley lakes. Lunch on the way; dinner & ON hotel

07. Early morning visit the fish market. Then drive to Shashamanne, home of the famous Rastafarians. Proceed then to the Bale Mountains. Lunch on the way; dinner & ON hotel in Bale Goba

08. Morning visit to the Sanete plateau, for its unique Afro-alpine vegetation and to spot different animals, among which the endemic Semien Red Fox. Afternoon drive to the Tuludimtu forest and see animals as the endemic Mountain Nyala. Lunch box on the way; dinner & ON hotel

09. Drive to Asela and then proceed to Awash National park. Afternoon game drive, home of Oryx, crocodiles, hippos and more Lunch box on the way; dinner & ON lodge

10. Early morning make a final game drive in the part and then drive to Harar. Afternoon tour of Harar: visit the Adere people houses, the mosques, the city walls, the basket production, the markets, French poet Rimbaud house, and more. Evening visit the hyena man: a man feeding wild hyenas. Lunch on the way; dinner & ON hotel

11. Early morning visit Babile, the valley of marvels, and spot animals as Elephants and more. Visit then of the coffee plantations around Sofi and other area. Finally proceed to Dire Dawa. Lunch box on the way; dinner & ON hotel

12. Visit of the town, the famous Ethiopia-Djibouti rail way and the markets. Then transfer to the airport for the flight to Addis Ababa. Shot tour of the capital and visit a coffee roster where you can also buy coffee for home. Dinner invited by the Green Land Tours & Hotels in a traditional restaurant with folkloristic dances. Transfer then to the airport for departure.
